I founded @thefullcirclesalon because of my own need for a nontoxic(products and people) space where I felt safe to express my authentic self.

I have worked in many salons, a handful of hair care and color brands, distributors, and independent education brands over the last 20 years. I have been mistreated, disrespected, called slurs, looked over for promotions, paychecks withheld, faced with homophobia, payed my own way for trainings, gossip and rumors spread about me, paid scammy commissions and fees to salon owners, lied too, manipulated, taxed in fraudulent ways by salon owners, threatened with lawsuits and so much more.

This is what propelled me to create a safe space salon for myself, my staff, and our clients. Holding space for everyone’s authentic expression including my own.

✨I feel like this full head of high contrast foilyage came out just right!

👸🏻Stephanie wanted a fresh new color look that was low maintenance and looked more natural than human made.

🎨This color experience included a full head of sliced and woven diagonal back sections, back-combed, and isolated in foils with 20vol Bleach.

🎨Next 2 Demi toners were applied. One darker formula on the root and one lighter on the ends to add a second layer of blending. Once the toner fades in about a month the natural roots growing tend to continue the blending process.

📆A look like this can go at least 3 months before the light pieces might need a touch up.

🌈Toners can also be used about every month or two for a fun change up since toners last about 4-5 weeks in Florida conditions.🚰🏖️🌞

She doesn’t use or have Instagram, but when looking for a new hairdresser in Jupiter, FL, a couple of years ago, she knew Instagram was the place to go. Ariana downloaded the app and immediately noticed that most of the salons coming up had long blonde hair blown out and curled with an iron. That wasn’t for her. Her hair does what it wants, and there is no controlling it. Noticing one of those salons followed @thefullcirclesalon, she took a peak. She immediately loved that we had photos of wavy and curly hair that was not blown out or even sometimes completely dried. She knew that was more her style.

It made me so happy when she shared this because, for a long time, I was nervous about posting hair that looked “unfinished” in comparison to so many other hairdressers on Instagram that I see.

🙏🏻 I’m on day 23 of daily meditation! I’m so grateful for my practice.

🧠Most of my life I told myself I would never be able to meditate. That a calm or quiet mind was impossible for me.

🗓️About 7 years ago a very special client of mine Ellie Conlin, who is no longer with us, turned me onto the teachings of @thichnhathanh. I started an audio book of his that changed my life more in that moment than I ever could have realized. I then started the @headspace app. I struggled to meditate for even a minute but I kept trying. After a week or so I had a very obvious moment of a gentle calmness and tranquility in my mind. I had achieved what I believed was the impossible.

🍃I have picked up and set down meditation and breath work for years and know I want to promise myself to do them everyday.

🧘🏻Nothing has been as powerful in my healing journey with my anxiety, insomnia, depression, capitalism, political homophobia, adhd, running a business, starting a second business, showing up on social media, abstaining from alcohol and caffeine and so much more.

❤️All this to say I’m super proud of myself. It hasn’t been and still isn’t easy to sit with myself everyday for 18 minutes but I do it.

🤲🏻The other reason why I want to share this is to let people know, if you are struggling with anything I believe in you, and I want to help support you. I’m happy to talk about and share any of the practices I have and continue to implement to heal myself. 👨🏻‍🏫 The only thing I might love more than doing hair is teaching clients how to take care of and style their own hair.

👴🏻I have been working with curly hair for nearly 18 years. I am mostly self taught and learned by working with all my curly friends and family who were struggling to find some one to cut their hair to be curly.

✂️Many times hairstylists would cut my curly friends and family’s hair wet and would blow it out and refine it dried straight. If you have curly hair you know what happened next. Once they would get home and wash it and let it curl, it would be way to short and look uneven.😩Then it would be back to growing it out and not getting a haircut for another 6-12 months and having to try all over again with a new hairdresser who may just repeat the traumatic cycle again. 😢

👩🏻‍🦱Once I learned that this was a typical situation for curly folks I had to do something to help. This was 2005 and I was working in the small town I grew up in, there was no YouTube education, no social media. No big curly brands teaching in smaller towns. I did the only thing I could and that was talk to curly folks and listen to their struggles. Then together we discussed solutions and then we gave it a try. After years of that I started taking curly clients in the salon and applying what I learned.

🌻Fast forward 18 years, I have now been cutting and coloring curly hair successfully for nearly 2 decades and I receive curly hair master classes and mentoring with @4allcurlkind . I’m so blessed and honored to work with Martina. She is a wealth of knowledge and is breaking through barriers to give the best curly education that is inclusive for all curly hair. 🎨With Alex’s hair I used a technique/foil pattern I developed that I will be teaching in my soon to be released class-Intentional Dimensional Foiling!

👨🏻‍🎨 I prefer this technique for any client wanting low maintenance brightness around the face and all of the hairline, especially when up. This technique is great for darker hair and fun colors! Also great for blondes who want some depth and natural color showing too.
